About Boutique Dressed
Located in Charlotte, Michigan
How long have I been sewing? I have been sewing for about 21 years now. My mother taught me how to sew a jumper dress when I was in junior high school. It was my first clothing project and not too bad either. My initial attempts were cutting squares of fabric to make simple quilts. After years of sewing different things I have come to appreciate the art of sewing!
What inspires me? I love colors and patterns. Vintage cuts are also very inspiring. My highest level of inspiration comes from other artists. I find magazines and blogs to be my go-to for inspiration. Whenever I need help I go to the internet for a dose of inspiration.
What is the most rewarding? When I see my creation worn or used by someone. I love that sense of accomplishment when I finish each project.
Do I make custom orders? Absolutely. Please message me with the details of your request. I will work with you to create that extra special item.
Boutique Dressed is all about handcrafted dresses made with attention to detail with no assembly line attitudes. No cookie cutter merchandise here. Each garment is sewn with ease of wear in mind and always made with love so your little princess will always look her best.
Why I share my work? I guess my answer is so I can continue to make more things. If I didn’t share my work I would have no space in my house. Sharing gives me an excuse to make and create more. More is always better in my book. I first started sharing my work in 2008 for family and friends.
What inspired me to open the shop? Finding an outlet to express myself and give me the reason to continue making and creating. Opening a shop is affirming my belief in myself as an artist. This also fulfills my deepest wish to create and accomplish my goals. I want to make clothes that meet your needs, that’s my inspiration.
What does sharing your work mean to you? It means that I am happy and fulfilled. Making these clothes and accessories makes me giddy.
